We are looking for artists to support an exciting new community art project called ‘We are Newmarket’ based at the museum in Palace Street.
We are Newmarket – are you?
The aim of the project is to work with the local community to co-produce a piece of art that reflects the diversity of the people who live and work in the town. We plan to display the finished piece in the main museum atrium where it can be freely viewed.
The project will provide an opportunity to:
- raise awareness within the local community of the museum and what it does
- build community links and ongoing partnerships for the future
- co-produce a piece of artwork with local people that reflects the diversity of the town and will bring people into the museum
- provide an opportunity for local people to experience and to be inspired by museums and the arts.
In addition to the project budget, a free stable space will be available in the King’s Yard which the artist can use as a base to work, to display their art, and to connect with visitors.
We aim to launch the project over the summer with a view to the artwork being displayed from January 2022.
The deadline for applications is 5 pm on 28 June 2021. Download the Application Details on the link here – Good luck…!
